About Masseria della Zingara

Masseria della Zingara, the house of the gypsy, was built in 1710 and has been lovingly restored to suit all ages and tastes. The interior is stylish and comfortable and has been restored with the highest attention to detail.

Set in over 20 acres of land with olive, fig, cherry and almond trees, the views are stunning at all times of the year. The house has a swimming pool and wonderful sun terrace for soaking up the Italian sun and the calm of the countryside. You may choose to borrow the bicycles and explore the local region or just relax and unwind. Close to Polignano a Mare (also known as the ice cream capital of Italy) and Monopoli, this holiday offers not only yoga but the very best in Italian food.

Situated on a ridge of hills extending the length of Puglia, Masseria della Zingara, is close to a series of scattered white-walled medieval towns and villages each boasting their own culinary specialities. Heading down through the olive plains to the sea where there are many fabulous beaches to explore. This is the perfect place to restore and rejuvenate your soul.

Join Dory, Gita and Pierre for five days of revitalising yoga alongside a purifying sweat lodge and reconnect to nature through exploring the wisdom of the medicine wheel at the beautiful Masseria. A wonderful opportunity for you to relax your mind, rejuvenate your body and reawaken your spirit in beautiful Puglia Italy.

You will enjoy daily yoga which focus on movement, breath and relaxation, alongside learning about the power of the medicine wheel and preparing for the sweat lodge.

The daily programme

Yoga: The day will begin with a flowing and dynamic asana class in the light and airy yoga space. After the morning session breakfast will be served on the terrace. The afternoon sessions will vary to include; exploring nature through the lens of the medicine wheel, preparing the sweat lodge and restorative yoga classes.

Sweat lodge: The sweat lodge is an ancient native ceremony which has been used since time immemorial for purification of body, mind and emotions. It helps to reconnect with the earth and to awaken old memories and connection with nature wisdom by using the four elements.

It is considered by native people as the song of the Earth. It has been an element in ceremonies for many different tribal communities all over the world - including south America, north America, Europe, Scandinavia and Mongolia.

During the lodge ceremony the lodge keeper calls on the wisdom inspired by the four directions to guide visualization, chants, prayers, set intentions and reflection for all participants. In a safe and gentle environment you will have the opportunity to leave the old behind and direct energy and intention to the new.

A sweat lodge is a covered round structure made from wood. Stones are heated in a fire and placed in a hole in the middle of the lodge to create a sweat lodge - a natural sauna.
