About Vigla

The first thing to strike you about Vigla Village is it's sublime location on the Ionian Coast of the Greek island of Kefalonia. It's a feast for the senses as you take in the intoxicating smell of the pine and eucalyptus trees and the crystal clear, deep blue of the Ionian sea. Coupled with the welcoming and open hearted, Greek hospitality of Anna and Angelos, you cannot help but begin to relax as soon as you arrive.

Perched high on a clifftop, the clean and comfortable apartments with private balconies, overlook the inspiring panorama. Just a short stroll away you can take the picturesque path down to Vigla's own private beach and the warm and inviting sea.

Vigla Village simply blows you away, it's the sort of place that you want to come back to time after time.

The daily programme

Each day will begin with optional meditation and pranayama followed by a morning asana class on our wonderful new yoga platform overlooking the endless blue ocean. The morning practise will gently open the body and attune the mind to the breath, slowly moving and building into a flowing and dynamic sequence. The classes will be suitable for all levels and yoga experience.

Morning practice will be followed by a hearty breakfast. Then you will be free to head off down to the beach, relax by the pool or explore the stunning beauty of the surroundings. The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a second yoga session which will be a more gentle class. There will be one yoga free day during the week.

In the evenings, there's a charming traditional Greek restaurant just across the way from Vigla Village and another a short walk away in the town of Spartia. Lunch and dinner aren't included in the cost to give people the option to go for dinner as a group or self cater if they prefer, each apartment has a small kitchen.

Things to do

One could quite easily while away a week of deep rest and rujuvenation here, enjoying the wonderful private beach, swimming pool and tennis courts on offer. There's also plenty of space at Vigla Village to find a quiet spot in the shade of the trees enjoying the colours and fragrance of the beautiful flowers.

The local village, Spartia, also has its' own pretty beach just a 10 minute walk away and a small centre with a couple of shops and a restaurant.

For those of you with an adventurous spirit you could hire a car to explore the outstanding beauty of this island. Caves, boat trips, snorkelling, fishing, trips to stunning local villages and a visit to Myrtos, known to be one of the world's most beautiful beaches, are amongst some of the many things on offer in Kefalonia.

'I just wanted to write to say thank you so much for your organisation and to tell you that I had an amazing week in Kefalonia. Raquel was an incredible teacher and the experience was both enlightening and inspiring. The people I met were so lovely and Vigla Village was a little slice of paradise - it was a joy to experience the stunning view from the yoga platform and the private beach was stunning. Anna couldn't have been kinder and I know I could speak on behalf of everyone when I say that the breakfasts were fantastic and we all looked forward to them every day! This was my first yoga holiday and I hope to experience many more. I would thoroughly recommend Yoga on a Shoestring.' Sara

'My daughter and I have recently returned from your week in Kefalonia. I have done yoga for 40 years and in many parts of the world where I have lived but this was a wonderful experience as well as being a ‘holiday’ and one I hope to do again.
The organisation was brilliant and the situation just perfect for yoga and meditation – perfection achieved by our teacher Ali Gilling…… she was just brilliant and stopped the 2 daily practices being ‘boring’. And the cost was pitched just right. I am hopeful of returning next year.' Julia

'Absolutely loved my Yoga days with Dory Walker. What an inspiration! She is professional, warm and motivating. Her style of Yoga with Pranayama and Nidra suited me perfectly. The weather was kind to us late September and the location peaceful. Kefalonia is an absolutely stunning and green island with lots to explore' Christine

'Had such a fab time on holiday. Lee is an amazing teacher and I wish that she could be my regular teacher! The yoga was fantastic, Vigla village was beautiful and it was so nice having time alone if wanted it or being able to be sociable if wanted as everyone appreciated this. A huge thank you again for your organisation and a huge thank you to Lee for making my first yoga holiday so fabulous!' Claire

'Had a great time! This was close to paradise. Perfect spot, fine outside yogaclasses, I really had a great time. Anna was very friendly and helpful, the view was gorgeous, the small beach lovely. It was amazing to have yoga under the open sky, and to hear the birds. I will always remember this time. Lee was a good, inspiring teacher.' Heleen
